Trend Board
For this project we were in groups of 4, were given a trend and a season for which the specified trend was to be present. My group got the trend 'Primal' with the season 'A/W 11/12'. Our initial thoughts were to research animal prints and tribal fabrics, we looked on WGSN and other websites and decided on a colour scheme. As our season was A/W we knew we could use darker colours and thicker fabrics.
For our first board we tried to set the tone of our theme by using existing images and mixing them with animal heads and trying to introduce to colour scheme.
On our second board we wanted to show our colour scheme and fabric choices so we made small samples of fabric into dresses and presented them on figures.

Madame Gres Exhibition, Musée Bourdelle, Rue Antoine-Bourdelle, Paris
Madame Gres worked just after the war up to the Seventies, her dresses seem so modern and sculptural. She loved draping fabric, she also sketched and the single sheets from her sketch books/hotel letter heads etc are fascinating - tiny, and mostly in fountain pen.
